Develop your paddleboarding and rescue skills
These 2 hour sessions take place on the River Thames. An informative, fun and experiential 2-hour paddleboarding session designed to help you paddle safely, deal with common emergencies on sheltered waterways and develop key paddling skills. If you plan to go ‘touring’ on paddleboards these classes will give you the necessary skills and confidence to paddle safely. The sessions can be taken just once or repeated until you feel you have fully grasped the skills. Once on the water, we will explore different ways to manoeuvre the board as quickly as possible, which is important to keep yourself and others safe. You will also learn the best practice for self-rescue and basic skills to help other paddlers in trouble. This session could be held on the quiet back waters of the Thames and we cover a few kilometres to practice newfound skills.
If times and dates listed don't work for you, no problem!
Buoyancy aids ( provided) mandatory for under 18, and strongly advised for everyone.
Suitable for 14 years and over ( no unaccompanied minors), must have reasonable experience paddling, this is not a beginners session, book our SUP Starters course instead, or if it has been a while book a River Trip
Price £50 each and £10 add-on for equipment if you don't have your own.
These 2 hour sessions take place on the River.
In light of recent press coverage of water quality of the Thames,
we are part of a local river watch group to assess E.coli levels- Link to test results. Weekly tests show levels generally considered to be safe (less than a count of 100) and the results are actually in the "Excellent" category for bathing water based on the Environmental Agency criteria. At present wild swimmers are enjoying this stretch of the Thames every day!
You will receive an email immediately after booking. The waiver attached to the email must be signed to complete your booking. Don't forget to check your spam and junk folders.
A short video to help you prepare your body for paddleboarding, just in case you are not participating in sport presently or you are inflexible.
What to wear depends on the weather on the day but check here for suggestions, however you will be going in the water so spare clothes are necessary and bring a wet or dry suit if you have them, if not we have some for hire during the cooler months.
