RYA Youth Sailing Course Stage 2

Following up from the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme, Stage 1, you will continue to build your confidence and skills during Stage 2.

During the course, you will follow a step-by-step process and improve your sailing skills on all point of sail over the two days:

1. Tacking
2. Gybing
3. Ropework
4. Collision Avoidance

The course is a practical hands-on course, which provides you with a nationally recognized certificate on completion.

It is advised to have some previous sailing experience or an RYA Youth Sailing Stage 1 certificate prior to joining the course.

You will be expected to be able to:

1. Launching and recovery
2. Sailing across the wind
3. Turning around
4. Steering and basic parts of the boat

At SWSA we believe that water sports are for everyone and we provide all the equipment, including wetsuits, buoyancy aids and helmets. Can’t swim? Not a big problem as your buoyancy aid will be keep you afloat but you should be confident in and around water as you're almost certain to get wet.

1. Minimum age is 8.
2. Maximum age is 16.

We provide all of the equipment required to take part in the activity, however you will need:

1. Swimwear for under the wetsuit
2. Footwear - an old pair of trainers or water shoes (this is a MUST)
3. A towel for afterwards.

As this is a full day course, you will need to bring a packed lunch, drink and snacks to keep you fuelled for the day. You will have access to drinking water if needed.

We will be following the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme. Working towards the stage 2 syllabus.

Throughout the course, you will receive expert, personal feedback and coaching.

At the end of the course, you will receive the RYA Stage 2 Certificate
