Description
West Coast River Running on SUP
Have you tried paddle boarding on moving water? Looking to step up onto more challenging rivers?
We are running a 4-day coaching trip this October where we will focus on coaching and developing your moving water and white water skills on stand up paddleboard.
The 4 days will focus on personal skill development, equipment for white water, self-rescue and rescue scenarios all in the grade 2 (3) river environment.
We will be looking at breaking in & out of a flow, ferry gliding, S turns, use of waves, river reading, line choices, river hazards and much more.
We aim to use the rivers surrounding the Lochaber area; River Spean, River Lochy, River Arkaig and River Oich. However, with the nature of all water-based trips and expeditions we will pick the venues for each day based on water levels and conditions - of which we will discuss with you so you to have the understanding and knowledge to then plan your own river paddles after the trip.
There is the opportunity to be awarded the British Canoeing White Water SUP personal performance award at the end of this trip as well.
Accommodation for this trip is up to you! The coaches for the trip will be staying in one of the local campsites where you are welcome to join them also. Or you may wish to book into a local B&B or guesthouse.
You will be required to drive to paddle venues.
What to expect on your paddling days!
