Would you like to be part of a regular outdoor swim group but lack the confidence?

Would you like to join some guided swims but feel unsure of your fitness and ability?

Would you like to progress the ‘wild’ in your swimming, gaining the skills and knowledge required to turn you into a more experienced swimmer?

    This is for you!

Join us in this first-ever course designed to progress you towards completing our iconic Burgh Island swim venture in 8 weeks.

It’s been carefully crafted to build your sea swimming skills, develop your confidence in the open water and share this incredible experience with other like minded people.

Over the 8 weeks course, we will cover:

    1. progressive weekly swims
    2. safety and sea/weather conditions
    3. swimming technique & safety whilst in the water
    4. land based activities including breath work for preparation
    5. snippets of local history, stories and foraging ideas

As your swimming will be developing through the course, there will be weekly homework to build on what has been covered during the session and suggested training plans towards our final swim.

There will be an option for tailored training plans if needed.

You get to immerse yourself in the breathtaking beauty of it all whilst being fully led by our expertly skilled & knowledgable local staff. This leaves you to fully take in the experience of exploring south Devon’s enchanted coastline and the sheer magnificence of this picturesque island.

The course will run every Wednesday between 11:00am and 12:30 at Bigbury on Sea, starting on Wednesday 29th May and finishing with a round Burgh Island swim on Wednesday 17th July.

You'll be looked after by Bex, our swim coach, guide, beach lifeguard and highly experienced in our Burgh Island swim-ventures. There will also be a lifeguard looking after you and the group.

We'll provide you with a comfy and bright swim hat and on completion of the course, reward you with our organic Burgh Island swim T-Shirt; one of a kind!

Remember, before you take the plunge, please ensure to complete our Medical/Disclaimer form and be sure to update us if anything changes before your swim. Our priority is ensuring your safety and unfortunately, we cannot allow you to swim without the required documentation.

    Private Bookings:

If you would prefer an exclusive course (individual or group - we can cater for your needs) or have specific dates in mind, please contact us directly via our website or by phone on 07448627184 and we'll discuss it together.

    Advice on wetsuit/ Skin swimming:

We understand you may be a skin-swimmer however we strongly advise to swim with a wetsuit because:

-the water temperature could be colder and you could be swimming for longer and slower than what you are used to,

    - part of the course, we will be spending time on land-based activities just before or after the swim

-we may be swimming close to and around rocks: barnacles, sea shells and rocks may be sharp - another good reason to protect your skin!

-on top of providing warmth and protecting your skin, a wetsuit will provide extra buoyancy for when we stop making it easier to enjoy the island and its surroundings.

    Refund policy:

-If you cancel less than 30 days before your swim: we sadly cannot offer a refund. However if you find someone to swim in your place, they will have to contact us ASAP so we can address them the relevant forms and information prior to the swim.

-If we need to cancel or should weather/sea conditions turn unsafe, we will contact you within 24 hours prior to reschedule
