Please read the booking confirmation email for important information about the evenings. Thank you

This is for booking a Laser only. Please book by Wednesday 8.00pm to avoid disappointment!

Thursday night is Club Night at Killington, a great opportunity for socialising, enjoying an evening out on the water, join in a friendly race, practise and hone skills. Please book early to avoid disappointment.

These nights start from 5pm (powerboat safety cover will begin after 530) and safety cover finishes at approx 8pm (often just before sunset). Boat availability is bookable as two sailing time slots 530-630 & 645-745. Time before and after are available for socialising (self serve tea & coffee facilities provided on site.)

These evenings are suitable for people who want to get out on non-tidal water to sail, paddleboard, giant paddleboard, windsurf, kayak and volunteer assisting on the safety boat (please email chiefinstructor@arnsidesailingclub.org.uk to offer to volunteer on the powerboat) or even join for an evening picnic!

This is a good chance to practice the skills learnt on a course (i.e. Sailing)

Volunteers are needed to help launch people out on the water, organise a friendly club race and to assist in the safety boat (PB2 to drive, no requirement to assist email to confirm) are needed to help make these evenings a success.

Activities can include dinghy sailing (Club Wayfarer, Hartley 15, Feva, Laser, Picos, Bugs (younger cadets) other double handers may be available), paddleboarding, kayaking (limited availability) and windsurfing. Or even come for a picnic and social

All participants go out at their own risk, safety cover is limited but around if anyone gets into problems. There will also be other Killington members utilising the water as well.

If beginners wish to come, there can be room to accommodate but we rely on experienced volunteer sailors availability to helm the double handers.

Children to be accompanied by a responsible adult please.

    Requirements

Children to be accompanied by a responsible adult please.

Try and car share where possible and park considerately, as there is limited parking available. (Extra parking is available at the fishermans car park on the road leading to the the club)

    What to bring

    Clothing

Please come prepared in clothing and footwear that you can get wet in.

For most of the year a wetsuit would be ideal but layers are important to keep you warm as you can be sat around and possibly get wet. The club does not have a supply of wetsuits- please bring your own.

Quick drying layers, base layers, fleeces and a waterproof layer can all help. A waterproof layer can help keep the wind chill off. Trainers work well as a footwear option. In sunny, warm weather please consider suncream. A change of clothes and a towel for going home in is useful.

If you wear glasses please consider wearing a glasses retainer strap.

Killington Sailing Club is 600 feet above sea level, more exposed and generally colder than Arnside. Remember that it also tends to be cooler on the water than on land. It is better to bring too much clothing than too little.

    Buoyancy Aids

We can provide buoyancy aids, sailing gloves and safety helmets (children under 16).

If you have your own buoyancy aid (min 50N, in good condition, appropriate for your size- see the label on the inside), please bring it with you, the instructor will make a decision on its suitability before going on the water.

    Itinerary

Safety boat cover (supervised by the instructor) will be available after 530pm dependent upon volunteer assistance and instructor demands on shore.
