A chance for new members and people who been on our adult sailing courses to try sailing at Arnside

Description

A chance for new members and people who been on our adult sailing courses to try sailing at Arnside with an experienced club member.

You will go on a double handed boat with an experienced sailor. The session will start with rigging boats, before going out on the estuary. They are a good chance to meet club members and become more involved with the club.

The sessions are only open to club members and people who been on one of our sailing courses. We can accommodate up to two children per boat as longer as they are accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The sessions are £10 for non members. For members they are free if you click on the £10 members discount.

Requirements

Either an adult club member or some who has completed one of our adult dinghy courses at Killington.

The sessions are not open to the public.

What to bring

Clothing

Wear clothing that will keep you warm in the wind, if you get wet.

Wetsuits are ideal if you have one. The club do not have any available to use.

A waterproof jacket or a cagoule (cag) are useful to reduce any wind chill.

Polyester jumpers (i.e. fleeces) are good at keeping you warmer if they get wet.

Footwear

Please wear suitable footwear that will protect your feet, trainers are ideal, water shoes are OK, but can often get stuck in the wet sand. Flip Flops, Crocs and Wellingtons are not suitable.

Hot Weather

Please wear sun cream and consider appropriate attire for protecting from the sun.

Change of Clothes

Bring a towel and a change of clothing, in case you get wet. There are limited changing facilities on site i.e. gazebo.

Buoyancy Aids:

We can provide buoyancy aids, sailing gloves and safety helmets (particularly for children).

If you have your own buoyancy aid (min 50N, in good condition, appropriate for your size- see the label on the inside), please bring it with yo. We may check it before going on the water.

If you wear glasses

Consider a glasses strap to help prevent them falling off.

Site Facilities

There are very basic facilities on site including basic changing spaces i.e gazebo and an eco-toilet. There is no running water, shower facilities or refreshments on site.
