  • Description

Celebrate the Winter Solstice in a unique and unforgettable way with Outdoor Explore Wales' Winter Solstice Paddle. Join us for an evening paddle on Ponsticill Reservoir, located within Brecon Beacons Dark Sky Reserve, and enjoy the stunning views of stars and the peaceful and relaxing ripples of the reservoir.

This guided paddleboard tour on Pontsticill Reservoir will last approx. 1.5 hours. It's a novice-friendly activity and a small group trip (6 people max), allowing all to enjoy, relax and paddle at a slow pace.

If you have your own equipment, this exciting paddleboard experience costs just £29pp; and we have full kit hire available for a small fee of £10 which includes a paddleboard, paddle, leash, buoyancy aid and waterproof jacket as well as a dry bag if required – we also offer wetsuit hire at just £5 per person.

Please bring a headtorch (ideally with a red light, but a red light is not essential).

Any photos we take on the tour can be shared with you, for free, after the journey.

Please note that being a small business, we need at least three participants on open guided tours. While we will do our best to fill each session, if there are only 2 people booked on, we will look at rearranging the session. After booking we will send you the exact details of the meeting location.

We also offer Private Lessons and Guided tours, please contact us to arrange this for you.

If you have any questions in the meantime, you can reach us directly:

    Requirements

    Participants should be water confident.

If you are bringing your own equipment, you will need a buoyancy aid, which you can hire for £5 if you don't have one.

    What to bring

Bring some footwear (which will get wet) and appropriate clothes for the weather.

    Please bring a headtorch.

It's also a good idea to bring a small bottle of water.

    Itinerary

You will be taken on a night-time guided tour of the reservoir and provided we have a clear sky, we may stop for some star gazing too.

I will provide any paddleboarding tips you might want, alongside information about the reservoir and the surrounding area.
