Mountain bike tour of Richmond Park and the river Thames towpath

Description

Join us for a mountain bike tour around Richmond Green, up into Richmond Park and along the River Thames towpath, seeing the deer in the park, and taking in some of the most iconic historical sites and views near London.

Who is this for?

Our bike trips are open to cyclists of all abilities, from novices, to those who cycle regularly. We guarantee you'll experience some beautiful sites, and leave with a smile on your face!

Children over 14 are welcome if they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.

Is it safe?

Yes - we cycle on the cycle paths in the park and on the towpath by the river where there's no traffic. There's a short section through residential side streets to get from the park to the river. You'll be accompanied by a fully qualified mountain bike instructor at all times.

Where will we go?

You will be cycling around Richmond Green, past the old palace and Ted Lasso's pub, then up to the famous Richmond Park, taking in the views from the Terrace Gardens. We'll then ride along one of the most beautiful stretches of the Thames, towards Ham House, Eel Pie Island and Kingston. We can even take in Hampton Court Palace if you would like to add an extension to the trip.

How hard will it be?

This is a relatively easy trip, although there are a few hills. You can upgrade to an electric bike if you'd prefer.

Can I cancel or reschedule after I've booked?

Please see our cancellation policy. You have the option to add day before Flexi Rescheduling as an add-on when you book.

Requirements

You need a reasonable level of fitness as there are some gentle hills, and be able to ride a bike! We can offer an electric bike at additional cost if you'd prefer.

What to bring

Please arrive wearing the clothes you intend to cycle in as we have only rudimentary changing facilities.

We have a safe lockable storage space for your bags and valuables.

No specialist clothing is required, but bring a waterproof jacket in case it rains.

You will need to wear a cycle helmet, which we will provide.

And we'll provide Trek mountain bikes!

Itinerary

After a short safety briefing we will head off up towards Richmond Park, round the park and then along the towpath towards Kingston. We will have a short break half way through the trip, and then return to the start point.
