Come to Traquair House for a gentle foraging walk, a guided river swim and a warm up with your wild foraged tea.
At Traquair House join Ingrid Campbell for a relaxing half day immersing yourself in nature on the land and in the water with a forage walk through the grounds followed by a wild swim in a beautiful pool in the River Tweed. Meet some of the edible plants that grow along the riverbank and then swim in its waters warming up with tea made form the plants that you passed on your way.
Meeting at Traquair House car park you will be guided on a gentle, relaxing walk to the beautiful River Tweed with stories of Traquair on the way. Enroute we will identify and forage ingredients for our wild tea and maybe find a nature snack or two as we go.
Reaching the river we will get ready for our swim. Here you will be guided safely into the water and we will swim together, playing with the flow of the water and magic of this place.
After our swim we will share a snack and our wild foraged tea made with a kelly kettle on the bank of the River Tweed before returning through the gardens to our meeting place from where you can further explore Traquair House, gardens and cafe.
This route is level and generally easy under foot, Distance 1mile/1.5km. The access to the river for the swim has a large step down off the bank. The swim is suitable for experienced and those fairly new to wild swimming but not complete beginners.
*Important* There is an additional cost of a day ticket to the Traquair Estate of £6 per person payable on arrival, this allows you to further explore the grounds after our activities.
