  • Description

This experience is for beginners or those relatively new to open water swimming who want to build confidence with professional and safe coaching, start to develop skills in open water and explore the holistic benefits of cold water swimming. We will learn how to risk assess, prepare for safe cold water acclimatisation/after care before moving onto the foundations of aquatic skills development.

The experience will start with Dan's "soft start transition" and safety briefing in the hotel overlooking Loch Fyne. Following this we will take the short walk down to the water's edge before anything between 20 to 50 mins in the water (depending on the individual and conditions) where we can look at useful open water skills and build confidence. We will then return to the hotel where warming beverages will be provided.

The classes are run by "Dan the Merman" of Swim - Dan the Merman - Argyll, a fully qualified and experienced local professional open water swim coach and wild swim guide, who is additionally qualified in open water safety management & rescue.

If you want to cancel your session, you need to provide at least 48 hours notice by email to swimdanthemerman@gmail.com in order to receive a refund. Please note that a 10% processing charge will be applied.

    2. swim shoes or socks (an old pair of trainers will do)
    3. neoprene socks/gloves
    4. plenty of loose, warm clothing layers

    Itinerary

Sessions will typically last for an hour to an hour and a half, depending on weather conditions and the individual. The session will include a theoretical based beginning and what I call a "soft start transition" on dry land before anything between 15 to 30 minutes in the water (could be longer/shorter, depending on the swimmer and conditions) followed by an integrated recovery on dry land (if needed) and plenary.
