COASTal Nature Tour

Join RV COAST Explorer on a 3hr Coastal Nature Trip around Arran's coastline to search for seabirds and dorsal fins, and to learn more about our underwater habitat and Arran's unique coastline.

Your skipper will make a decision on the day of the exact route, depending on weather and tidal conditions and any recent cetacean (whale & dolphin) sightings.

Due to the duration of this trip, we do not recommend it for children under 8 years old, however, we are happy to discuss individual requirements.

Please meet us at the Marine Information Point at Lamlash Pier at the start time of the activity. Please note, there are no car parking facilities here, but parking is available nearby opposite the PHT pub, or down the green at the COAST Discovery Centre.

Cancellation/Refund Policy:

1. If the event is cancelled by COAST due to weather or unforeseen circumstances (eg technical issues), we aim, where possible, to notify you of this the day before. Where possible, we will reschedule you to another event. Alternatively, you will be entitled to a full refund if you wish.
2. If you are unable to attend the event, we will offer a full refund if the cancellation is made no later than 48hours before the date of the event.
3. Any cancellation made within 48 hours of the event date will not be eligible for a refund.

Important Information:

1. Due to the nature of this trip, we do not recommend it for children under 8 years old, however we are happy to discuss individual requirements.
2. Children must be at least 6 years old or weigh over 20kg to participate.
3. All under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
4. An adult may accompany no more than 3 children.
5. Dress appropriately for the weather and bring sun cream if necessary.
6. Toilet facilities are available onboard but using facilities ashore beforehand is recommended.
7. Please bring your own snacks and water as food and freshwater are not provided.

Please bring warm clothing and waterproofs if rain is expected.

Joining the boat at Lamlash Pier, the route will be decided on the day based on weather and tides, but will venture either north, up the east coast of Arran, or south, to round Pladda and view the wild south coast and the South Arran Marine Protected Area. We will be out on the water for approx. 3 hrs before landing back at Lamlash Pier.
