Paddle board lesson on the Portishead Marina. We offer full, safe access around the whole of the Marina. If you have paddled before: build confidence, improve your skills and refine your technique.

We will get you standing and paddling with confidence, or tail turning if that's your aim. Using the very best in inflatable SUP boards and carbon paddles (board, paddle, leash and buoyancy aid provided).

    Maximum group size is 6.

    Minimum age: 8 years

All under 18s must have a parent or guardian on the water with them.

If you would like a private lesson or to reserve the lesson exclusively for your group of 3 or 4 people, please get in touch via email or phone: portisheadsupco@yahoo.com 07780761472

Get in touch if you would like to request a date that is not available on the calendar or if you have a larger group.

    What to bring

For lessons in March or April a full length wetsuit and boots/old trainers are required (not provided).

A wetsuit is not necessary from May onwards but you may feel more confident wearing one depending on the weather. Otherwise, lightweight sportswear is ideal (no cotton or denim that could get water-logged!). Please wear enclosed shoes - wetsuit boots or old trainers that you don't mind getting wet. We aim to stay on the boards, but we can't guarantee you won't take a quick dip, so please bring a change of clothes and a towel!

Please bring any medication or inhaler if required, sun screen and drink when sunny or warm.

Meet on the grass by Parish Wharf carpark (usually setting up by the small play area). No changing facilities or toilets at the meeting point.

    Requirements

The minimum age is 8 and all under 18s need a parent or guardian taking part in the lesson with them.

Please inform us of any medical conditions or requirements via the disclaimer form.

Please ensure you are wearing suitable clothing and enclosed shoes are worn by all taking part.

    The lessons:

    1. Briefing on land covering equipment, safety and basic techniques.
    2. Paddling on knees and turns.
    3. Getting from kneeling to standing.
    4. Paddling around the Marina, improving paddle stroke and technique.
    5. If a big enough group, some games.
    6. 'Private' lessons can be tailored to suit the needs of the participant.
