Pontsticill Resevoir Private Paddle

NB please note you must have your own equipment for these paddles we do not supply anything. ;-)

You must have paddled a little before and can paddle the length of time on your knees at least.

This is an opportunity to paddle on water you wouldn't normally be able to. Pontsticill Reservoir by Merthyr is only available to selected groups and is a beautiful reservoir with the Brecon Mountain Railway running alongside it.

This is a small group paddle and during the winter you must be appropriately dressed as if you were going to take a dip and be able to carry on afterwards and able to paddle at least on your knees for the duration.

During the summer the choice is yours if you wear a wetsuit but the water is usually not too bad. Wetsuits will need to be warn in October etc

The weather apps are really hard to work out for this place so we can only go on what they say so we will judge on the day if it becomes too unsafe.

Please arrive in plenty of time as we cant wait for people and you cant catch up as it’s not allowed to paddle on your own. There are roadworks on the way so again give yourself plenty of time to navigate these. Morning sessions are on the water ready at 9/10am please check your booking to know what time you start . Afternoon sessions are on the water at 2pm

There isn't any phone signal so we are unlikely to get any messages on the day if you are running late etc.

Due to these paddles being organised within a week usually, refunds will only be given if we can fill the space before the event.

This is an adult only paddle.

Oh and there aren't any facilities (toilets ) so go before you leave ;-)

You must have a buoyancy aid and be appropriately dressed for winter paddling in case you take a dip. There are no facilities here and so please bring a hot drink with you and any snacks etc to take out on the boards.

We will meet at the launch point and have our boards ready to paddle at 9/10am depending on your booking please check, for the morning session or 2pm for the afternoon session. Depending on wind we will then take a leisurely paddle around the outskirts of the reservoir and may go into the Pentwyn Reservoir, with a short stop for a drink etc
