  • Description

Your discover award allows you to develop your decision making and practical skills for a fun and safe time on the water, taking you on the next steps towards becoming proficient and independent paddler. You will learn how to choose and effectively use equipment, whilst developing an understanding of the factors which affect your paddling.

    Key Learning Points:

    Getting Ready

Before getting to the water you must choose suitable kit and equipment and have the correct knowledge to use it.

    At the Venue

When heading to the water you should have an understanding of your chosen location and how you will access it. Key factors to consider include the type of water, the weather and features of the location you choose.

    On the Water

When on the water you should be in control and aware of your surroundings and other users. Key skills to achieve control include staying relaxed and understanding how to move your craft.

Our experienced instructors will be with you every step of the way, offering clear instruction, guidance and encouragement.

Please Note: Minimum age to participate is 16 years old.

    Safety Notice:

Safety is our number one priority. In the event of poor weather conditions, for example; strong winds or thunder and lightning, we reserve the right to restrict water access to particular user groups, restrict the area available for activities, or close the lake. We will endeavour to give advance notice whenever possible, however, some decisions need to be made at short notice.

In the case where the lake is needed to be closed, we will endeavour to notify all customers to offer the opportunity to reschedule their session or receive a refund. We will also ensure the message is shared on the Llys Y Fran website and social media pages.

    Requirements

Before travelling to Llys Y Fran, we ask that you follow the current government advice and do not travel if you have any of the following symptoms:

    1. A high temperature: this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature).

    1. A new, continuous cough: this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual).

    1. A loss or change to your sense of smell or taste: this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal.

To ensure the safety of our customers and staff we ask you to sign a health declaration confirming you are free of symptoms.
