    Strontian, GB

  • Description

Explore the wonders of Loch Sunart at your own pace with our Stand Up Paddle board hire. Meet us at Strontian Jetty and explore the Carnoch River, the open water and Ardnastang Beach. Search for otters, porpoises and all manner of wildlife as you glide over the water.

    Conditions of hire

    1. At least one adult must have previous experience in paddle boarding
    2. At least one adult in the party must be able to get people back onto paddle boards in deep water and safely tow them back to shore
    3. All participants must be entered onto our booking system
    4. Paddle boards and other equipment must be returned to Otter Adventures by the end time of your hire period
    5. Dogs are not permitted on our SUP boards in order to prevent damage from their claws
    6. On the day of hire, you will need to present photo identification that contains your address. This must be the same address you give us in the questions. Failure to bring photo ID may mean that equipment is not hired to you but you may still be charged.

We have four boards available and our ratios are as follows:

    1. One person aged 12 years and above per board;
    2. One 4 to 11-year-old may share a board with their parent or legal guardian.

Included in the hire (of one board) are the following items:

    1. One McConks paddle board (max. weight limit 150kg)
    2. One McConks carbon shaft adjustable length paddle
    3. One Palm Equipment buoyancy aid (two if a child aged 4-12 years is sharing a board with an adult)
    4. One quick-release belt and leash

Although we offer hire of canoes, kayaks and SUP's, we always recommend our guided adventures. You will learn more about kayaking, the environment and the culture of the West Highland Peninsulas and have a higher chance of finding all manner of creatures above and below the surface.

They are also much safer as the weather conditions (especially the winds) change rapidly and can leave you stranded and unable to return to Strontian Jetty. Our guides are all qualified, highly experienced, passionate as well as local - meaning they know the discipline and region better and care about them more.

Please read our 'Terms of Hire' and 'Disclaimer' carefully before booking as, by booking, you will have agreed to, among other things, our cancellation/refund policy. After booking you will sign a digital disclaimer agreeing to the full terms for hire of equipment.

If after reading the 'Terms of Hire' and 'Disclaimer' and watching these Water Skills Academy videos on YouTube, you wisely decide that you do not have sufficient experience and confidence to look after your party, please book one of our SUP Taster Sessions instead. These will be with our local, qualified guide and coach and, after this, you should be better able to decide whether to hire boards from us or not.

Please read the post-booking information carefully, especially the "What should the customer bring?" and note that the boards are for collection from our base in Strontian and can be carried to the water's edge.

    Longer hire periods

Hire for more than one day and a pick-up/drop-off service may be possible. Please email us or call (07521 676274) with dates to discuss available options.

    Requirements

It is essential that you have are confident and competent to look after yourself and anyone else in your booking/party.

We do not ask for proof of experience or ability and only offer advice on care of the board (especially fins) and other equipment.

The supplied buoyancy aid and leash/belt must be worn during participation.

If you are in any doubt, please book one of our SUP Taster Sessions and let us know you wish to develop your skills and confidence with a view to hiring boards. After this, you should have sufficient experience to hire equipment from us (subject to availability and weather), but you will need to decide yourself whether to hire or not.
