Brendon Prince, a teacher and lifeguard with over 25 years’ experience has championed water safety education ever since witnessing three souls drown on a North Cornwall beach. He set up and became chairman of the Torbay Surf Life Saving Club and founded the water safety through education charity- Above Water Charity No.1174593. To highlight the need to teach children water safety annually, Brendon took on an incredible endurance challenge to stand up paddle board (SUP) the entire coast of mainland Britain- The Long Paddle. In completing this world first, Brendon set 5x world records.

Join Brendon and Sup2summit on an exhilarating and unforgettable journey across the West Coast of Scotland!
An amazing 4 day/3 night SUP expedition into the wilds of the West Coast of Scotland. This expedition really sees it all, from Historic Freshwater Lochs to Gentle meandering rivers and Sea Lochs full of wildlife and history.
Day 1
Meeting at Fort William Train station for roughly 9am, we will then transport you to our starting point at the Glenfinnan House Hotel. This will be our launch point under the foot of the Famous Glenfinnan monument, famous for its role in the Harry Potter movies and our start of the paddle down the magnificent and massive Loch Shiel(the fourth largest Loch in Scotland, shadowed by towering mountains on either side and wild forests, it’s a beautiful setting.

Day 2
We continue our journey down Loch Sheil, The mountainous scenery now breaks into lowland pastures as the Loch turns westward before draining into the gentle River Shiel. Camping not far from the historic St Finans chapel, we will make a short stop here to explore the ancient burial ground.

Day 3 - River and Sea
The River is an easy mellow river with one small section of grade 1 until the River Drops into Cairn Pool. Dependant on tides, we most probably will have to portage round this section. We are now on saltwater and paddling into the historic Loch Moidart before setting camp on a remote island.
Camp 3 - Loch Moidart
Day 4 - Our chance to explore the beautiful North And South Channels as well as Loch Moidart. There is lots to see here, including the beautiful Castle Thoran, old crofts as well as being home to white tailed sea eagles, seals and sea otters and more.
If the weather is appropriate we may explore further!
45/60km spread across four days paddling. Not for beginners!
We will be collected from here via taxi and returned back to our meeting point in Fort William for 4.30pm on the Sunday!
Your safety is always our primary concern, we use a 1:4 ratio. Our trip leaders are highly qualified SUP Expedition Guides with advanced first aid qualifications. Our guides are some of the most experienced sup guides in Scotland, operating in multiple locations across Scotland all year round!
What’s included?
Boards - We use top quality 14 X 31 MCCONKS Go Further boards, Quick release waist leashes, Carbon 2 piece paddle, PDF and coiled leash.
Food - We provide breakfast, lunch and evening meals while out on expedition. These are in the form of expedition style porridge packs and rehydrated expedition foods. A list will be sent out for your choice of meals. We use Real Turmac expedition foods. We supply a group cooking kitchen.
Camping - As well as spectacular wild camping sites, we also provide hammocks, tarps, thermarest style air bed and dry bags to carry all this plus your own kit. All you need to bring is your own personal paddling gear, clothing and a 2/3 season sleeping bag. A kit list will be sent out to you.
For all our trips we set up a WhatsApp Group chat, this will let you get to know who else is on your trip, ask questions to your guide and liaise with travel plans!
Guide - Expert Expedition guide, fully equipped with VHF radio, Garmin Inreach GPS, full first aid kit and emergency equipment
We are happy for you to bring your own SUP but it must have the ability to carry all equipment with front and back loading capabilities and be suitable to four days touring!
