Falklands Outdoors

We took the 3 hour e-bike tour on pedal assisted fat bikes. Dan,the owner, was our guide and we had a very enjoyable tour. Dan is a Stanley native and his knowledge of the area and history was a real treat.
The bike tour is a nice alternative to some of the other tours offered out of Stanley. It's is limited to about 4-5 riders so you are guaranteed a very personalized experience.
The tour takes you out to Gypsy Cove which can also access by bus but with this tour you allows you to get off the beaten path and experience the beauty of the island from a different perspective.
While you will probably not see as many penguins as the ones on the other tours offered on the
island which require several hours transit via 4x4 we were able to see three different species as well as other wildlife. The winds did pick up towards the end of our ride and Dan did a good hop of adapting our ride to minimize the impact. We ended our ride out by the lighthouse where Dan's grandfather was manning the lighthouse when the Argentineans invaded the island in 1982. A highlight of the tour was coffee and tea with homemade Russian cakes made by Dan's mom who works at the local newspaper - Penguin News.

A big thank you to Dan for this canoe kayak outing, it was a magnificent outing!! We were able to see lots of animals from the water (cormorant, magellanic penguins, sea lions, shearwaters...) Dan had planned a short break for tea to wait for sunset to see birds that only come back at night! Thanks to Dan for his attention and his desire to give us a wonderful experience!! I recommend these outdoor outings to discover the Falklands in a different way!

The kayaking trip organised by Dan, Peter and the team at Falklands Outdoors was one of the greatest highlights of our trip to the Falkland Islands.

Everything was organised with huge professionalism, and Dan’s knowledge and care for his clients (and for the natural environment) was palpable throughout. The equipment (kayaks, dry-suits, etc) were new and very effective.

During our trip, we were treated to the sight of dolphins jumping over the bows of our kayaks. I’ve never experienced anything like it anywhere.

The best of the Falklands. A must-do if you’re in the islands!
