Active Sail Stage 3 - 3 Days

  • sailing

  • 3 days

  • Max 12 people

Develop independent sailing skills, including rigging, manoeuvres, and sailing in all directions, earning their RYA Stag

Description

This 3-day course takes young sailors to the next level, focusing on independent dinghy sailing in a variety of conditions. Participants will develop their skills in rigging, launching, sailing in all directions, and performing accurate manoeuvres such as coming alongside a moored boat, man overboard, and stopping. The course also emphasizes understanding the five essentials of sailing: balance, trim, centreboard, sail setting, and course. Taught in the dynamic waters around Southampton Water, this course prepares sailors for greater autonomy on the water and successful completion can earn their RYA Stage 3 certification.

Looking to try to have a full 5 days of Sailing? We often run Active Sail Advanced on the days following our Stage 3 courses to allow sailors to consolidate and practice their skills!

Requirements

All participants must be aged 8+ and will have completed Stage 2

The staff are very friendly, with an excellent selection of courses and boats. The atmosphere is great and the paddle boarding sessions are very fun. Very good for beginner sailors.

I'd highly recommend SWAC. I have zero experience of being in boats, am in my late 50s, and was quite nervous about doing the 2 day RYA Level 1. The instructor, Jen was excellent...unfailing patient, completely calm even ...
