Lost Shore Surf Resort

My ten year old and I had a super fun beginner lesson at Lost Shore. It worked for both of us on the same wave even though we were mixed experience levels. My daughter had never really surfed before and she had a whale of a time. I managed to find a lovely wee glassy reform wave without getting inanyone else’s way. Even in nippy April weather we were perfectly warm in our rental wetsuits and boots. Ruaraidh our instructor was great, super encouraging and explained everything well, with loads of practising techniques on the ground before we got in the water. Staff all were helpful and friendly. Lost Shore had that fun, surfy atmosphere that makes you want to carry on hanging around, drinking coffee, munching the yummy pizzas and watching some pretty capable lassies and lads on the bigger waves. I totally recommend Lost Shore for a fun family experience. (And even if you don’t wanna get in the water, there’s a cruiser wee surf-skate school right between the cafe and the water… not to mention the sauna and apparently even massages and yoga available. Plenty of stoke for everyone :-)

Firstly the surf experience is excellent, the place is very tranquil with a great vibe (almost like you're on holiday). The team for the surfing element are great also.

There are aspects that do need to be improved. The web booking it clunky, not offensive but could be so much better and aligned to standards of the surfing.

The lack of a phone line is a real issue which would significantly improve the customer service side of things.

The service and attitude of some staff in the canteen isn't great and doesn't match the surf service.

Simple things that would make it from a good place to an amazing place.

Super friendly staff outside the water and very supportive surfing community inside the water.  Had an amazing time surfing cruiser, turns and manoeuvres.  Was grateful when a session was full because it gave everyone time to rest.  Its an amazing work out!  Super fun waves!  Great atmosphere.

Flew from Spain Thursday, stayed at a 6 person lodge on top of the hill, and on site for 3 days, enjoying the local food, sauna and atmosphere.  I rented all the boards and wetsuits and found it fun to try different boards.

Our family of 4 (plus dog) stayed in one of the chalets last week - they were absolutely perfectly laid out, with everything that you could need, including dishwasher, microwave, washing machine TVs in the bedroom, wifi and a wet room! - and we had views across the firth of Forth.
Our surf lessons were fun, friendly and well delivered; the cafe was well staffed and the overall feel of the place was amazing. Whoever designed the accommodation spec - and the whole layout of the place clearly put a lot of design skill into it all.
We all LOVED it and will definitely be back. Thanks for a great experience.

We've just got home from two days at Lost Shore and we simply cannot wait to return!

My husband is a lifetime surfer and really enjoyed the barrel and manoeuvre sessions each day. The setup offers experienced surfers a great opportunity to work on specific skills without worrying about wasting a wave.

As a beginner who had never surfed a day in my life, I was soon standing up and getting a taste for it with a beginner lesson each day. Special mention to Iona who's teaching style was so easy to understand. She was so warm and welcoming, and managed to impart so much helpful info before we even reached the water!

The kit hire is fantastic, and the wetsuits are warm, so there are no fears for being cold in the water. The changing rooms are spacious with great showers, lockers and hairdryers. All well set up.

We stayed in one of the Wave lodges for the night. Bed was very comfy, and there was everything you could need, and the shower was amazing!

Only downside was the food a bit pricey. I also think they're missing a trick, they could be taking photos of lessons so people can choose to take home a photo of their surf.

We will definitely be returning very soon even though we live nearly 2 hours away. It's an absolute gem of a location and we had a blast. So even if you've never tried surfing I would absolutely recommend trying it out.
