What is SUP polo?
SUP Polo is a cross between stand up paddleboarding, water polo and lacrosse played on inflatable SUP boards with paddles. It is played on a sectioned off area on flat water outdoors or you can play in a swimming pool.
Great fun and addictively challenging, two teams of 3 battle it out to retrieve the ball with specially made paddles and shoot or throw the ball into the goal at either end of the pool.
The basic game rules? (You will be given a copy of full rules and a verbal safety brief at each session)
The basic rules of SUP Polo are simple: The field is the full length of the 25m long pool x 12 metres (4 lanes) and it’s three-a-side. You’ve got to use your paddle to get the ball into the net in order to score. You can’t handle the ball while you’re on your knees or in the water, which is an important point to note because you WILL be in the water during SUP Polo.
The halves are usually around 5 minutes each, which sounds short but will seriously tax your lungs: This game is not only fun, but it challenges your balance and coordination it’s also a hell of a good workout.
