  • Description

Whether you are a regular or have never paddled before, our SUP with your Pup sessions mean that you needn't leave your furry friends at home...

You will kit your pup up with their own buoyancy aid and we'll kit you up with yours.

    1. We allow time for land based familiarisation of the equipment we'll use.
    2. Provide a (re)introduction to stand up paddle boarding techniques.
    3. Take to the water in a fun and safe way with experienced Paddle Sports Instructors
    4. The lesson structure is designed to give you the information you need to get on the water safely, have fun and learn the basic techniques of stand up paddle boarding.

    Requirements

Anyone taking to the River on a SUP with your Pup Lesson must:

    1. be 14 years or over.
    2. be able to swim 50 metres.*
    3. be able to paddle their own stand up paddleboard (SUP), without assistance.
    4. be accompanied at all times when on the water by an adult if under 18 years.**
    5. wear their buoyancy aid at all times whilst on the water.

You will start the session paddling on your knees before transitioning to standing, therefore a degree of flexibility is needed to do this.

*If you are a weak swimmer please do let your instructor know so that they are aware of it.

**The adult to child ratio on the water is 1 adult to 2 children.

    What to bring

    For your dog:

You will need to bring a PFD with a grab handle for your dog, along with the usual paraphernalia that you carry as a dog owner (I find dog treats and poo bags in pretty much all of my pockets these days).

    For you:

Due to the nature of the activity, there is a chance that you may get wet.

    Itinerary

Starting by ensuring that your dog is wearing their buoyancy aid and becoming comfortable wearing it, we'll kit you out with a buoyancy aid (aka PFD) and then introduce your pup to the boards. You'll run through the basics on land before introducing you both to the boards on the river and then taking to the water to practice.

The lesson structure is designed to give you the information you need to get on the water safely, have fun and learn the basic techniques of paddle boarding.

During the lesson our main focus is on ensuring that both you are your pup are as comfortable as you can be with paddleboarding

We'll then return the boards, paddles and PFDs before you head off for a well deserved treat for both of you!
