Thornbury Castle - Longbow Archery

Come and experience Longbow archery at Thornbury Castle.

This castle was built in 1521 and has hundreds of years of fantastic history in its grounds, and now you can be a part of it!

Using replicator longbows with draw weights of 20, 25, and 40lbs, you will be taught how to shoot at our straw targets while learning some history of the longbow.

Once you have learned how to shoot safely, then we will play a few games to really test your skills.

You will be shooting at our targets from only 10-15 yards, but it has been known that longbow's effective range was hundreds of yards in the right hands.

Adults only - 18 years+ due to the draw weight strength of the longbows.

Sunglasses or a cap if it's sunny.

Wellies and waterproof jacket if it's raining. (if raining, then we do have a sheltered range - Availability dependant)
