  • Description

We're paddling to Odiham Castle and we'd love for you to join. This is an unforgettable experience as you paddle through history. This ruined castle situated in Hampshire is one of only three fortresses built by King John during his reign. It's said that the site was chosen by King John because it lays halfway between Windsor and Winchester.

THE ROUTE: Basingstoke Canal | 4 mile paddle

Take in the beautiful scenery as you pass by open fields, tree lined banks, and hopefully spot Hampshire wildlife such as deer, kingfishers, red kites and heron's. Pass Newlyns Farm, then ride under the limbo bridge to reach the castle. A lunch break is planned here so you can have some refreshments, take pictures of the ruins or just stretch your legs with a walk around our local piece of history.

    Who is this trip for?

    Beginner to intermediate.

This is a beginner friendly tour starting with an on land briefing, followed by a short refresher lesson to ensure everyone feels comfortable and confident on their board. With easy launching, sheltered waters, and no portaging we should be in for an easy ride.

🩹 The quality of our local waterways is something to always be aware of and it’s important to do your own research regarding this. When paddle boarding with us we ask that you cover up any minor cuts and abrasions, and to wash once you are home if you fall/swim in the river, this is to reduce the risk of disease such as weil's disease. Paddle Up strongly recommends not to participate in paddling if I have any open wounds, and instead to reschedule.
