Description
A one to one lesson with one of our experienced and SUP-obsessed instructors to learn to stand up paddle board on Southport's Victorian Marine Lake, or to improve your SUP skills and refine your technique with a lesson that will be tailored to you for the best progression.
This session is ideal if you are progressing, have particular skills you'd like to work on, have had a beginner lesson, or have any mobility or fitness issues that mean you would like to go at your own pace while learning to paddle.
Please be aware that you will need to get onto the board on knees, and will not stand up until away from the edge of the lake. If kneeling and moving to standing is difficult for you on land you may want to get in touch with us before booking a lesson, to discuss how and whether we can safely get you on board.
If you'd like to join a group beginner session, or bring family or friends along please book here.
We will get you standing and paddling with confidence, tail turning if that's your aim or building the foundations for fitness paddling, racing or surfing. Using the very best in inflatable SUP boards and carbon paddles (board, paddle and leash provided), and sharing our teaching experience and eight years of passion for the sport.
Requirements
Children need to be 14 or over , and may only take part in a group lesson with parent or guardian also taking part, or in a one to one lesson with parent in sight at all times.
Participants must disclose level of water confidence on medical questionnaire.
Please inform us of any medical conditions or requirements via the disclaimer form & questionnaire.
Please read the clothing requirements and ensure suitable clothing and enclosed shoes are worn.
What to bring
It's not necessary to wear a wetsuit, but you certainly can if you have one - and it may make you feel more willing to try the trickier techniques. If it's warm wear a rash vest or similar so that you can zip your wetsuit down to avoid getting too hot. Otherwise, lightweight sportswear is ideal, or board shorts and rash vest (NO cotton or denim that could get water-logged!). Please wear enclosed shoes - wetsuit boots or aqua shoes are ideal, otherwise old trainers that you don't mind getting wet. Falling in isn't compulsory, although we can't promise of course, so please bring a change of clothes and a towel! If you want to try the more tricky techniques getting wet is more likely, and you will get wet to the knees as we start off paddling on our knees.
Please bring any medication or inhaler if required, sun screen and drink when sunny or warm.
