    Advance your sailing skills with the second stage of the RYA Youth Sailing Scheme. This course is perfect for those aged 8 and up who have completed Stage 1 and are ready to take the next step. Join us for two days of fun and learning this summer!

    Course Highlights:
    1. Skill Enhancement: Building on the foundation of Stage 1, this course aims to boost your confidence and sailing abilities.
    2. Practical Learning: You'll learn to better control the direction and speed of your boat, enhancing your competence in light and moderate wind conditions.
    3. Expert Instruction: Tuition takes place in single-handed boats under the supervision of fully qualified RYA instructors.
    Course Content
    1. Basic Sailing Skills: Refining the fundamentals to ensure you can sail safely and efficiently.
    2. Tacking: Mastering the maneuver to change direction efficiently.
    3. Boat Speed Control: Learning how to manage and adjust your boat's speed under varying conditions.
    4. Ropework: Understanding and applying essential knots and rope techniques.
    5. Collision Avoidance: Techniques to ensure safety and prevent accidents on the water.
    Achieve Your Next Milestone

    By the end of the Stage 2 course, you'll be able to tack, control your boat's speed, and have a stronger grasp of the principles of sailing. This course sets you firmly on the path to becoming a competent and confident sailor.







    Requirements
    1. Be able to swim 25m
    2. Aged 8yrs+
    3. Completed stage 1


    What to bring
    1. Shorts/T-shirt to go under a wetsuit. Feel free to bring your own wetsuit if you have one. 
    2. Appropriate footwear: Must be closed toe shoes that are non slip or trainers that you don’t mind getting wet. (No flip flops or sliders)


    1. Packed lunch, drinks and extra snacks


    1. Suncream
    2. Towel
    3. A bag for your wet kit
    4. Warm/waterproof clothing, if the weather is cold, wet or windy.
    5. £1 coin for your locker (No change is available at the centre)




    Itinerary
    1. Arrive at the centre and meet your instructor
    2. This course is a mixture of on the water activity with a few theory elements.
    3. You'll stop for lunch around 12:30pm for 45minutes and then resume activity.
    4. 15:45 you'll be off the water ready to get changed to leave by 16:00
