Description
The National Water Safety Management Programme (NWSMP) is an occupational management training solution suitable for deployers requiring their workforce to operate safely in or near water.
RLSS UK has worked with industry-leading experts and current trainers to undertake a full review of the NWSMP suite of awards and, therefore, presently has two deliverable NWSMP awards.
Requirements
Each candidate attending an NWSMP course must:- Be 16 years old or over at the time of being assessed
- Have a good level of fitness
- Be competent at swimming in open-water environments (for Coastal and Inland Waterways module)
- For the assessment, candidates must be able to swim 50m in an open water environment. (for Coastal and Inland Waterways module)
What to bring
This course is a blended course with time spent both in the classroom and near and in the water.
Candidates will need to bring clothing to remain comfortable in the classroom, waterside and in the water.
We recommend candidates bring the following:
- Note taking option, either analog or digital,
- Outdoor clothing inc suitable clothing,
- Wetsuit or Drysuit for being in water,
- Closed toe shoes which can be tightened onto the foot,
- any PPE which you have,
- any rescue equipment you have.
Itinerary
Course ContentThe NWSMP is split into two levels to ensure candidates get the most out of the course.
Water Safety Awareness
This course is for those working near water as part of a structured activity. The course includes:

Inland Waterways Module
This module focuses on specific inland waterway hazards along with in-water skills.
