Foil Drive Lessons

Our three-hour Foil Drive lessons are where hydrofoiling really starts to click. Working one-to-one in sheltered deep water, you’ll move beyond first lift-off and into repeatable, controlled flight. With time on your side, you can dial in stance, throttle control, pitch awareness and smooth transitions, stacking meaningful minutes on the foil rather than just tasting it. The Foil Drive lets you reset quickly, explore what works, and build real feel for glide, speed and height without waiting for perfect conditions. Expect a high water-time session that’s immersive, addictive and genuinely rewarding. All equipment is included, and no prior foiling experience is required; just comfort in open water and a willingness to learn.

What you need to know

1. Lessons are one-to-one and tailored to your experience and confidence
2. All specialist equipment is provided, including foil board, Foil Drive unit, helmet, impact vest and wetsuit
3. You do not need prior foiling experience, but you must be comfortable swimming in open water
4. Most water time takes place in The Gazzle, a sheltered deep-water area close to Surf Sanctuary
5. Expect to spend time both on land and in the water during your session
6. Sessions involve repeated take-offs, short flights, falls and quick resets; this is part of the learning and the fun
7. Foil Drive units are powerful machines; safe handling and trigger discipline are part of the lesson
