  • Description

This session will follow the new Paddle Safer training course and certification from British Canoeing will be issued at the end of the course.

It is ideal for paddlers who are working towards becoming an independent paddler and who want to be able to support other paddlers, or be rescued on trips. You will learn different rescue techniques to support yourself and other paddlers.

Take part from the craft of your choice (SUP, Canoe Kayak or Sit on Top) and learn how to stay safe and rescue others. This will be a very wet session. Open to existing club members only, who have control of their craft.

Paddlers will learn how to empty full boats whilst in the water, therefore this course may not be suitable for young paddlers. Please email before booking this course for a child to make sure it is appropriate for their age and physical ability.

    Requirements

You must be able to handle your craft in normal conditions on the lake.

    What to bring

Please wear your normal paddling clothing and prepared to get very wet repeatedly. Dress warmly as the water will still be cold. Please bring a change of clothing and shower kit for after the session.

    Itinerary

You will cover a full range of rescues, and supporting paddlers that are in the water.
