  • A new year paddle to blow away the cobwebs

    Description

This trip is being organised to blow away those post Christmas blues and to welcome in the New Year.

The trip is suitable for all paddlers who have at least paddled on the River Trent during club sessions.

It will be an out and back trip, so we will paddle as far as the group want to then turn around and return back to the car park. We will likely split into two groups with a fast group for those that want to stretch themselves and then a more gentle paced group.

An ideal introduction to touring, club equipment will be available and a trailer will be going from Nottingham if you can't transport your own boat. If you are using the trailer then we would encourage you to car share to reduce the number of cars that need to park, and to reduce our environmental impact.

The trip will have a cafe and toilets at the car park so we encourage you to enjoy their excellent cake and coffee at the end of the trip. Car parking is pay and display either with cash or by phone.

    Requirements

Please arrive at the parking point at 0915 to give time to get unloaded, kitted up and ready to depart. Car parking is via a pay and display machine which takes credit/debit cards.

    What to bring

Please bring your own craft or arrange to collect one from the club on the Saturday before the trip, or load one onto the trailer on the Saturday before the trip.

You should bring warm clothing, a packed lunch, a hot drink, a change of clothes in a dry bag to go in your boat / on your board, a warm hat and gloves.

    Itinerary

The paddling will be about 4 hours with a break for lunch, distance will be dependent on each group and the paddlers within it.
