  • Description

This two day course for club members will give an intensive boost to your skills. You will get the opportunity to spend a day on the lake refining your skills and rescue techniques, and then the second day will be spent out on the River putting the skills into practice and refining them further.

This course is an ideal progression for those who have already completed the discover award, and want to progress their paddling further. Those demonstrating the appropriate level will be awarded the Paddle UK Explore award at the end of the weekend, or will leave with a clear action plan for completing the award. You will also be able to gain the Paddlesafer award as well.

The course can be undertaken on a SUP, Sit on Top Kayak, Kayak or Canoe.

This is not a novice course, so if you are unsure about your skill level please speak to one of the coaches before booking to make sure this is an appropriate course for you. The course cost includes all certification fees, and water access fees. You must be a full club member to attend this course, not a temporary member.

    Requirements

This course is for paddlers who have ideally completed their Discover Award, or if not have done 12 or more sessions of paddling. You need to have a basic control of your craft, and have an understanding of how to manoeuvre it.

    What to bring

There will be a lunch break on Saturday, please either bring a packed lunch or purchase lunch from the cafe. On Sunday please bring a packed lunch. Bring appropriate clothing for the predicted weather, and on the Saturday be prepared to get very wet.

Please bring a full change of clothing and shower kit for after the paddling. Don't forget your drinks and snacks for the day.

    Itinerary

Saturday will be spent on the lake refining your strokes and techniques, as well as learning rescue skills. Sunday will be spent on the River putting it all into practice.

Great club with friendly and knowledgable coaches. Inexpensive to go and join and you get free parking if you become a member. Plenty of equipment and varied lessons and sessions.

Kids loved it. Okay for a visit. Our teens did the splash and the high wire walk. Good enough for teens for a few hours. Not extortionate but not cheap either. Staff were okay, helpful when asked. Would recommend it for ...
