    2. Or have accredited prior learning that has been formally recognised through the equivalency process.

    The Course

The course covers the fundamentals of teaching and working with novice to expert skiers, preparing the candidates for workplace training and further development. Candidates are encouraged to fully immerse themselves in the content, which covers:

    1. The fundamentals of skilful alpine skiing
    2. The candidates’ own personal skiing performance
    3. The fundamentals of working with skiers of advanced and expert standard including planning and delivering safe, enjoyable sessions, which build the foundations for further learning
    4. The role of tasks in learning
    5. Observing performances and providing feedback

    Working towards accreditation

During the Ski Instructor training course, candidates will be supported to devise an action plan for their development as skiers and instructors. In addition to working on any points identified in their action plan, candidates will be required to:

    1. Complete workplace training, recorded in a workplace logbook
    2. Complete a minimum of 20 hours of supervised teaching under the guidance of a suitable mentor
    3. Maintain their membership with Snowsport Wales/England/Scotland

Candidates should ensure that all units of their workplace training workbook are completed before applying for assessment. Proof of completion of the workbook will be required when applying for the assessment.

This may require providing corroborated evidence of completing all units of the workbook. Further checks can be made at the start of the assessment and failure to provide a fully completed workbook can preclude access to the assessment.
